Joran's Dutch Lawyer, Bert de Rooij, is prevaricating about his guilt, the truth or lies in the taped confession. "Every time he releases a statement, we have to figure out if he's telling the truth or lying."
Hans Mos just declared that he will wait for Joran to come in, but not indefinitely. "The story fits the facts, Joran incriminates himself, so he is a suspect, but we will not arrest him on this evidence. he should come in, for his own good as well."

I don't understand why Hans Mos has said that he would like Joran Vander Sloot to "come in for his own good". Is Mos looking for Joran's appearance to be perceived as an admission of guilt, rather than arresting him outright based on the current taped confession? Please clarify.

He doesn't want to arrest him because that would require a lot more evidence than he has now, i.e. a body and if he does it anyway Joran is going to be out in three days again. But he's kind of leaning on Joran's lawyer in that statement, specifically hinting that every cop in the country will be under orders to smoke a cigarette while he's being ripped to bits by pissed of people.

How did Hans Mos communicate with Joran's lawyer - through the talk show or was this in the aruban media?
Good to hear the little delicious sporter is getting some heat for his actions. I do not believe in vigilante justice and I do think that this would be very harmful, making Joran look like a victim rather than the guy that preys on American Tourist girls.
All Americans wait to hear some huge heart felt apologies from most of Aruba's media, investigation officials, Government officials and the many (most likely paid) posters who have said every vile thing they could think up about Beth and Natalee for the last 3 years.

Joran's lawyer Bert de Rooij was in the studio and Mr Hans Mos of the DA Aruba was on the phone live.
At the moment Joran is hiding because here in NL he's not save for his life, also his parents on Aruba were warned by the local Police.There was even a story about a totally different guy by the name of Johan in Drachten where 100's of people stood in front of his house and made death-threats etc. because they thought Joran was hiding there.Weird.

Thanks for the update re: my question about Joran's whereabouts and his parents. All this info seems so strange indeed, since we're not getting the same kind of media coverage in the States at all. (except perhaps ABC tonight) Must be that the story is being put on the "back-burner" because of the Superbowl and Super Tuesday tomorrow. I'm wondering if De Vries should have waited to break the story at a later date?

I'm not related to peter. De Vries is a very common surname in Holland. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to comment. It's so much more fun blogging if someone besides your parents reads it.
Oh and yeah, Katablog is on the money about Joran's parents. They're in their house in Aruba. Joran's dad is under investigation of obstruction of justice because of the phone thing.
