Natalee Holloway Update 14: Joran returns to Pauw en Witeman, claims to have lied in confession, Peter Cuomo flying to Holland

Joran just claimed in the same Pauw en Witteman show that featured Peter R. De Vries yesterday and was the stage for their earlier wine-based frackas, that the confession that de Vries obtained was a lie, that he was just telling the story he thought his 'acquaintance' wanted to hear.

Joran's American lawyers have already responded to the allegations of confession saying that it was obtained by an Aruban employee of de Vries, who was handsomely rewarded for winning Joran's trust and betraying him.

RTL Boulevard reported earlier this evening that the speculation is that Joran may have just helped get rid of the body. They also spoke to an ABC producer that claims that they will see 20-25 million viewers, that Peter R. De Vries' narration of the events will be cut and replaced that ABC anchor Peter Cuomo is flying to Holland for an interview with Peter to replace some of the footage.

Joran van der sloot (and his parents who couldn't possibly know what a psychopath their son is) is one very sick puppy.

We in America fear for Brittney Spears based on her stupid, self centered actions that are hurting her.

But look at all the people Joran is hurting! There has been a concentrated boycott of Aruba for 2 years so the Arubans suffer for his action.

There have been the most insipid lies told about Natalee and Beth in order for Aruba to try to gain back its tourists and soil the victim. In the latest of tales, even Jug Twitty has been vilified, accusing him of having sex with his step daughter. None of this makes one bit of difference to the van der sloot family as they all center the wagons to protect Joran.

In the same vein that Mrs. Holloway seeks to recreate her daughter through television and images in protection of her memory, the van der Sloot family will help protect their son. Right or wrong, this is the responsibility of parents to their children. It is honorable, even if it is to a dishonorable end.

As I have said in my own blog, not knowing the victim or accused murderer/rapist means I have no ground to judge either one--or their families and friends. As such, alleging that Natalee came from a depraved sex den and that Joran is a twisted psychopath really don't help anybody. What will help is real evidence, which seems to be lacking--even considering the revelations Peter R. de Vries claims to have on the case.

It is not Joran that is hurting Aruba and its people, it is the American media machine, set into motion by Natalee's mother and Dr. Phil, which actively encourage Americans to avoid the island because of its alleged poor treatment of Americans. Remember, she is the blonde teenage queen that snags air time on networks.

As the Arubans themselves say, they are tired of this Natalee crap. There is no smear campaign on their part to villify the Holloway camp, but they do want everything to be over. They actually don't care if Natalee was a drug-addled slut or if Joran is a murdering psychopath. The only important thing to Aruba is that the case gets solved.

I also implore you to think about the lives that can continue to be hurt and destroyed in the shadow of Natalee's rotting corpse. Do you know how many people died in Baghdad today? How many children, mothers, cousins, fathers, uncles, and orphans are being slaughtered in eastern Africa? These things don't garner the 90 minute slot on 20/20's Monday screening. No, a blond American teenager went missing during a hard night of partying a few years back... and it's STILL news. People are still suffering from all sorts of other horrible things, but that gets knocked off of the headlines.

I'm not saying that this spiel shouldn't be considered newsworthy, but there is this ridiculous hype that's appeared around the issue, and hype is always unwarranted. It's a way of earning something off of the population. Viewer numbers are way up thanks to the case. People are buying newspapers. Even this blog has recieved an astronomical increase in visits thanks to its attention to the issue.

It is for this same reason that people in America actually care about Britney's own drug-addled adventures. When Dr. Phil gets involved, you know it's gone too far (I'll explain the Phil Phactor at some point in my blog).

I couldn't agree more. Its these blue blooded "Van" families that think they can get away with everything.
But not this time!

alex, how uncaring and now I'm going to assume also totally uninformed or misinformed.

Natalee's case got so much attention not because of her looks but rather what a country tried to do to her and her mother to make the case go away in hopes that tourists would come back to Aruba.

This was a human being that was raped and murdered! She has family and friends that love and miss her. but what's even worse, Aruba simply allowed the perps to walk around, telling lies, cleaning up evidence and then the investigators and ATA started making up stories about Natalee and Beth to get the world to believe that Natalee wasn't important.

Every person is important and if you are concerned about the kids in Bagdad, then please, write about them. Don't forget to mention all the kids allowed to finally go to school and who are also getting medical treatment.

The story of Natalee continues after almost 3 years not because of Natalee, but because of the horrid things that have been done in an attempt to let the perps walk free.

If I am considered uncaring, then so be it. What I don't care for is the circus that feeds off of death, and the manner in which it feeds. Headlines are cherry-picked, and it is well documented that the missing person reports that find their way into media headlines are usually to do with well-off, white, young, attractive women. This is not anything new at all.

Nonetheless, the fact that Natalee Holloway has been in the news for so long is nearly unprecedented. The longer she stays there, the longer the media profiteers make money off of Natalee's death as well as the backs of Arubans.

It is very impolite of them to have lashed out against the persons they perceive as doing them harm (the Holloway family), but for the community it is inconceivable that a country with the size and resources of America could be mobilized to try and suffocate a tiny nation like Aruba. The face they always see spearheading the initiative is Natalee's mother.

Whatever stories you say are made up are just as unfounded in legal fact as your allegations of Joran's guilt--regardless of whether or not he did it, he has not been proven to have committed any crime. Essentially, you're calling the kettle black, although the Aruban kettle is lashing back at those it thinks are responsible for harming them.

I am not excusing this poor behavior on the part of the island press, nor am I trying to say that Natalee's family is bad for wanting their daughter back. Both courses of action, however, make sense. What sickens me is that a media feeding frenzy generates cash out of tragedy (in itself also not anything new).

The thing that makes this totally surreal is the vehemence with which Americans stand behind Natalee's family compared to the impotence they display when it comes to, say, African tribal conflict. As many people have been hacked apart with machetes in Kenya since the last election as died in the attacks on 11 September 2001, but thanks to the media's focus on the sensational story of a beautiful teenager, the American people allow themselves to be led into thinking of one more prominently than the other.

It's all about air time, baby. What bleeds leads, and even better if there's a pretty face on it. So when your hometown cheerleader goes missing, it'll get headlines, and people will all think "How horrible." When that black girl from the Bronx--hooked on drugs and prostituting herself--runs into that bad John who dumps her body in the East River, it might make a small blurb inside the paper, but more likely than not turns into the year's round up of so-and-so-many unexplained deaths/murders.

This disparity is what I am trying to highlight. The fact that news agencies pick and choose what misery they can glean the most cash out of. It is naïve to think that these companies have the best interest of anybody at heart. Natalee's mother has spent a significant chunk of her personal worth on this case, and so has Joran's family, not to mention the losses of the Aruban people. All of the bickering and name-calling between those three parties has been caused by the companies and organizations that want to milk this thing for all it's worth.

Follow the money. The people with the biggest wallets are the ones enjoying this, and they never want this to get solved outright. Why do you think they are making such a big deal about the potential solution to the case? This could be their last chance to cash in on Natalee, so they'd better make it good.
